| - An official of Earthgov, Deputy Bootweeze had the right, as did all United Planets bureaucrats, to enter the Legion HQ at any time, thanks to the leader, Lightning Lad’s, injudicious signing of a document without reading it. Bootweeze exercised this right when Lightning Lad, in a desperate attempt to keep attention-seekers from HQ, arranged for the posting of notices of Stinkwart Plague, contracted from Venusian musk-shrews. Although aware that Stinkwart Plague was wiped out “years ago”, Bootweeze refers to Regulation ID Sub-Section Ten, which requires that any contaminated facility – in this case – the Legion Headquarters – be examined and decontaminated. This was an expensive process that resulted in the Legion billed for two hundred million credits, thus placing them grossly over budget – a high price to pay for twenty minutes’ peace and quiet, although the administrative and extortion skills of M’Rissey eventually had the charges waived.
