Mswabe III was King of Linari from 1965 until 2002. He was the son of Mswabe II, who had been the King since 1954. Mswabe III was the first Linarin monarch to operate outside British colonial rule since the country came under British jurisdiction in 1874. Mswabe was deposed twice (once in 1969 and once in 1993), but was restored both times due to outside intervention and counter-coups. He died in 2002 and was succeeded by his son, Kwate II.
