The Nigerian Air Force, or the NAF, is the air force of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the aerial arm of the Nigerian Security Forces. It was founded on April 16, 1964, following the government's decision to train it's own air force, and end its reliance on the Royal Air Force of Britain. Today, the NAF is by far one of the largest air forces in Africa, with over 35,000 pilot and personnel, and some 760 aircraft in its inventory.
